Google News Lab Lecture: Fact Checking Tools

On the 22nd of March 22 at 11 am a Google News Lab lecturer  Marek Miller will give a lecture on facts and news checking at the Lithuanian Journalism Center. During the lecture, the lecturer will present the biggest fake news stories that have occurred to journalists and how to avoid them by checking information, facts and video.

Journalists will be shown how to use Google Maps, Image Search, Google Translate, YouTube and other free online tools (Picodash, Who.is, The Wayback Machine, Suncalc, Video News Debunker, etc.) for the fact-checking.

Lecturer Marek Miller has been working in the media for 15 years, and he spent most of this time in one of Poland’s largest media companies, Polska Press Group, where he had the opportunity to see how the Polish media transformed from the press into the digital space. In the year of 2017, he taught at the Poynter Media Institute in Florida. M. Miller is currently writing for the leading Polish magazine “Press”, and teaches at the Google News Lab.

The lecture will be held in English at the Lithuanian Journalism Center (Didžioji St. 5, 4th floor).
